It's been 24 years since I started decoding cakes. This was for my son's first birthday.

In the Netherlands, this hobby was still in its infancy. So, I had little choice but to teach myself everything. Fortunately, I've always been quite creative and self-taught. And the hobby quickly became very popular in the Netherlands.

After a few years, there were also grants and competitions to enter, which I won quite often. Then I was asked to judge. A nice development.

My hobby quickly became my job. Besides working on children's, party, and wedding cakes, I soon started giving workshops both at home and abroad. I never dreamed I'd also publish three cake decorating books. It's been so much fun to be a part of it all.

I'm also incredibly proud to be the international ambassador for SmartFlex. For me, it's truly the best fondant available. It's the one I always use, both for covering my cakes and for all my sculpting work, which is truly my greatest passion.

I'm really enjoying giving workshops at the fair this year.
